Kimblin NeSmith earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Morehouse College and Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. When it comes to preparing the future leaders of the Big Bend area, Commissioner NeSmith demonstrates his commitment to education as he has served as an adjunct professor for the Tallahassee Community College Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy at the Florida Public Safety Institute, and as an adjunct professor at Barry University and Flagler College. Commissioner NeSmith is an advocate for transparency and education. When he does not address District 3 constituents’ needs, he remains active in his community as a criminal justice adjunct professor at Saint Leo University.

Commissioner Kimblin E. NeSmith, J.D., is a member of the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners and serves as the current Chairman for 2022-2023. He represents District 3, which includes the City of Chattahoochee, the City of Greensboro, Rosedale, Bonniehill, Happy Town, Goat Town, River Junction, Saint Mary, Crawfish Island, Juniper, Sycamore, and Sawdust. He co-founded Ambanc-First Mortgage Company, Inc. in 1986, the Lawyers of the Future Training Program (L.O.F.T.), which introduced middle and high school students from urban communities to life on a law school campus.

His top priorities for District 3 and Gadsden County are Infrastructure, Economic Development, Community Affairs, Job Creation, and expanding business opportunities for underserved areas in Gadsden County. He co-founded Ambanc-First Mortgage Company, Inc. in 1986, the Lawyers of the Future Training Program (L.O.F.T.), which introduced middle and high school students from urban communities to life on a law school campus,. In 1996 he created an entrepreneurial center on the campus of Edward Waters University and served as the founder and executive director of the Institute for Global Entrepreneurship. In this capacity, he created the vision for expanding existing and developing new business enterprises in underserved communities in Jacksonville and surrounding counties.

Community Footprint
A native of Jacksonville, Commissioner NeSmith has called Gadsden County home for five years. He has held diverse leadership positions on various boards and community organizations, including Leadership Gadsden, the Public-School Board of Gadsden County, Florida’s Gadsden Leadership and Law Academy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Chattahoochee, where he currently serves as the President. In 1996 he created an entrepreneurial center on the campus of Edward Waters University and served as the founder and executive director of the Institute for Global Entrepreneurship. In this capacity, he was responsible for creating the vision for expanding existing and developing new business enterprises in underserved communities in Jacksonville and surrounding counties. Commissioner NeSmith is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Chi Omega Chapter. He enjoys spending time with his three daughters, family, and friends.
